Eva Arrighi, fashion editor for The Herald has shared with us the hottest trends for Autumn Winter 2022 and where you can find them in Silverburn.

Far from hibernating this season, we’re braced to face the worst that winter can throw at us in layers and layers of knitwear.

From whisper-light base layers, through cropped options and cowl necks; and sweater dresses, from micro length to floor sweeping incarnations, it’s time to fall in love with the jumper, cardigan and wool itself for the ultimate in cosy chic to pile on at will.

Colours

Colour clashing has given way to colour blocking and increasingly tonal blocking with mousey shades and almost every conceivable shade of grey showing once again how versatile these can be in a wardrobe.

Not that sweet shades are forgotten – indeed red and pink are going nowhere fast, and coupled with toffee apple, nutmeg and spiced pumpkin, there is warmth yet in this season’s autumnal palette.

As the leaves fall to the ground, snow-inspired shades in tactile fabrics and finishes always impart a luxurious touch to winter dressing and there are plenty of pale and interesting options this season if going back to black makes you feel gloomy. With so many metallics around this can produce a futuristic feel at times.

Trends

Another trend which we’re happy to see continue is dopamine dressing, with jewel shades of jade, emerald, ruby and amethyst coming through for a rich, colour-saturated way to instantly boost your mood.

Urban detailing rubs up against heritage staples with elements of traditional country pursuits, namely horse riding, shooting and fishing echoing through an abundance of quilting, tweed checks, corduroy and sheepskin with infinite options to choose from.

When it comes to coats there is something for everyone, from Chanel-inspired boucle, snowstorm friendly padded options, and the shapes of the season – aviation and bomber jackets – which add a touch of toughness to this season’s loose fit denims.

Prints

A hot trend that’s only going to go from strength to strength into next season is bold geometric prints, as seen at Prada and beginning to feed through to the high street, and pattern merchants everywhere will be introducing them into their outfits for a striking slice of mid-century modernity.

So, all in all Autumn Winter 2022 is shaping up as a very strong season indeed, allowing you to face the elements in a perfect storm of style.
