When is it?
Tuesday 1st November 2022
Next to our Guest Services Desk we will be showcasing two fantastic organisations as well as our free Shop Mobility service.
9am – 1pm – Scottish Autism will be on site with an Autism adviser to offer advice and support.
1.30pm – 4.30pm – Indepen-dance will be delighted our guests with musical performances and raising awareness of the services they provide.
What is Silverburn doing?
To celebrate Silverburn is showcasing our partnerships with Scottish Autism and Indepen-dance.
Scottish Autism is an organisation dedicated to enabling autistic people to lead happy, healthy and fulfilling lives. They support families and individuals living with Autism through a number of services. These include children’s services, respite opportunities and even supported living. If you are looking for support and guidance please visit them this Purple Tuesday and they will be happy to help. As part of this collaboration we will also be relaunching our free rental service of Sensory toys and Ear defenders. We understand that that the shopping centre experience can be overwhelming for a child or adult with additional support needs so we hope these resources can make the experience easier.
Indepen-dance is an award winning inclusive dance company for disabled and non-disabled people to enjoy, express, and fulfil their potential through dance. Their mission is to enable participation in high quality arts provision and improve wellbeing, quality of life and provide opportunities for disabled and non-disabled dancers in both the professional and non-professional dance sectors. We are delighted to be joined by this group to entertain and delight all while raising funds to run their services.
We will also be highlighting some of our key services that make Silverburn more accessible. Our Shopmobility service is free to access and available via the ground level of our Multi-story Car Park. We also want to highlight our “Not every disability is visible” signage which you may have seen on all our disabled toilets. The availability of toilets is vital to the wellbeing and quality of life for people with Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. We believe that everyone living with Crohn’s and Colitis should have access to publicly available toilets, free of charge and without fear of public prejudice and discrimination. Finally, we are using this opportunity to draw attention to our AccessAble Guide, this guide is here to take the chance out of going out. To give you the detailed information you need to work out if a place is going to be accessible to you. These detailed access guides tell you all about a Silverburn’s access. Its is 100% facts, figures and photographs, which help you plan and navigate your visit.
